"Open Office" is far from being equivalent to Microsoft Office.

More TOTAL CRAP from Carey. Open office 2.02 is EASILY the equivalant of
Office XP (without Outlook of course) for 99.9% of users.......

Open Office may be perfectly adequate, but it is most certainly not the
equivalent..

There are no such applications built into WinXP; you'll need to
reinstall the applications that the computer manufacturer should have
included in the box, with the computer.

used it have you? For more than five minutes? I am an Advanced Excel user
(management accounting for large companies) and OO Calc 2.2 will do about
EVERYTHING I need. Write does not do all the infuriating things that Word
does, and I've heard, (although I don't use either) that Base knocks the
spots of Access.
