word problem

Hi,
Working on Office 97 on Win98 machine... the problem is with the ms word problem. After opening the any word document.. it opens the document but automatically minimises itself and later on does not open. When we check in the task manager.. the word file will not be responding..
Even after reinstalling the msoffice the same problem is found...
What could be the problem??????????
