Word printing problem

I have MS-Office Pro 2000. Word won't print more than one copy no matter
what I choose for the quantity. I've had three different printers, a Brother
Laser HL-1440, an Okidata inkjet and an HP $1000 laser printer. I downloaded
the latest drivers for each one over the years and tried every configuration
I could think of. The problem remains. If I want 5 copies, I must click on
print, then wait for the copy to print, click again and print them one at a
time. During that time, I had Win 98, Win 2000 and now Win XP. The only
common thing is Word. Is there I bug I should know about?

Bob,

Try to start word in safe mode. To do that click the
Start button in the bottom left of your screen, selecting
Run, and typing: winword.exe /a. Now try to print in
word. What happens?

If that works...you have a corrupt registry key for Word
in the registry. To fix that followe these insrtuctions:-

Please be aware that deleting the wrong thing in the
registry could stop your machine from functioning
altogether! But as long as you're careful and follow the
instructions exactly, you will not have any problems. So
take a deep breath, and:

1. Click the "Start" button at the bottom-left of your
screen, select Run, type Regedit and click OK.

2. Expand "HKEY_CURRENT_USER", then expand "Software",
then "Microsoft", then "Office", then "9.0", then "Word",
and you'll see a folder called "Data".

3. Either right-click on the "Data" folder, or (see
discussion above), right-click on the "Toolbars" value in
the right-hand pane. Now select "Rename". Go ahead and
rename this to olddata. You will also see a folder that
says options. Rename this also to oldoptions and hit
enter, make sure they have been sucessfully renamed and
now close the registry window.

4. Go back into Word, and you should find that you will
be able to print again.

I started Word in safe mode, opened a document and clicked print and chose 2
copies. It printed one. For what it's worth, Publisher which is part of
Office Pro 2000, will print any number of copies. Should I still edit the
Registry?
