Word Locking Up When Printing Imported Tables

I am using Word 2000 and it is locking up when I try to print under certain
conditions. It seems to happen when I attempt to print documents that have
a large number of table images that I have imported from a spreadsheet.

This is happening on a solid W2K machine that is very clean, and has 1 gig
of memory, so file size shouldn't be an issue. The specific symptom is that
occasionally when I try to print one of these documents, Word locks up and
the topmost blue bar just starts blinking. It won't respond to anything,
and I have to use Task Manager to close out of the program. These document
files are less then 1 meg in size. As I mentioned before, they have about
20 to 30 pages of spreadsheet tables that have been imported in
"paste-special, picture" format. The margins of this section of the report
are around 0.4 inch to accommodate the tables. I'm printing to an HP
Laserjet that I've never had any problem with before.

This problem persists even though I completely reinstalled Office a couple
of weeks ago. The program works fine in all other respects. I'm stumped.
Any ideas why this is happening?
