Hi,
I've a problem trying to open a word document (produced on the server)
in Internet Explorer. Sometimes I get an Office Message which says that
the file is already in use and asks if I want to open it in read-only
mode.
We've checked which processes where locking the file on the client
machine and it was used by WINWORD.EXE and IEXPLORE.EXE

Any idea?

Thanks,
Andrea

Than you've to make a shortcut on your Desktop to the Word-document. The
problem seems to be that WINWORD.EXE (Microsoft Word) and IEXPLORE.EXE
(Internet Explorer 4.6, IE5 or IE6) both wanna use the file. So you have to
use Word to watch / edit the document.

Or you can save that Word-document as a Webpage, naturally...

Hi Daan and hi everyone,
there's no shortcut for the Word document: it is dynamically produced
on the server (by a J2EE application) and opened by IE6, which sees
that it is a word document so it launches Word. But sometimes the file
is already locked... and I don't know why...

Bye,
Andrea

Use Folder Options, File Types to prevent .doc files from being opened
in the browser.
