I cannot seem to access or save files and documents in either word or excel
as when i try to do this the application just hangs and does not respond.
However i am able to access files via file manager but cannot amend/change
and save.

Is anyone aware of any solutions please? thanks in advance.

Also - I am not that IT literate so any help would be appreciated.

This is a result of a bug in the MS06-015 security update. Here is the automated fix.

Go to the following website:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Click the link on line 383 (right hand side). This will download the HP's Share to web software-fix file.

Double click the downloaded file to run. This will automatically fix the problems caused by the Security Update MS06-015 as detailed in "Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security update MS06-015".
