I have a couple of relatively new installs of W2K on computers in my home
and use Word 97 on one and Word 2000 on the other. In both cases, I have
set up a separate Documents directory on the C: drive to hold my Word
documents, and I have changed settings to have Word save files to this
directory. However, frequently when I call up a document, I get an MS Word
message that says:

"C:\ (filename.doc) is being used by (me). Do you want to make a
copy?"

I click cancel and all is well, but this is annoying. Why is this happening
and how I can fix it?

Antivirus settings can cause problems too. If you have Norton make sure
the Office Plugin is disabled.
