word document problem

Hi! Please help!! I am using works processor to make documents (because I
like the options and the use of the tables) and when I send them, some
recipients can not open the attachments. I do save the documents as word
97-2000 rtf. and it helps some of the time. Also, when I receive documents
that are word, word viewer opens them and I cannot edit it them. So, if i
have to edit, I must copy and paste to processor doc. and edit then change
back to rtf. Word 97-2000 and resend it . It is a pain, and sometimes in all
the shuffling, my document does not look the way I want it to???????????????
Any advice!!

Sorry to say, but sometimes it's better no to go against
the Grain!
If you want to be compatable with the rest of the world,
you have to use what they use. Let go of the Past!

You are going to have these issues as long as you are
using Works for "Professional" services, as most people
around the world use office

Best to stick to Office 2000 or better, and uninstall 97.
Use the "Save as" fuction when your saving Documents!
Dont forget to apply the latest service pack for
whichever product you are using!

I hate to come over as a big meanie, but try to send only
office doccuments in your emails, this will help other
people read your doc's, Most people don't use Works!

Is that an editor-related thing or a security issue. E-mail clients can be
setup to block any attachment...

Word 97-2000 has options too and lets you use tables as well, you know.
Besides, you'll avoid the
copy-from-the-viewer-and-paste-to-your-works-editor headache and also Word
is more reliable than works (as far as I know!)

Maybe the recipient has an older version of Word, than was used to create
the documents.

I was at my college today, they had the academic version of
Office 2003 Pro for $89.00 if you had the proper ID. Since
I already have Office XP Pro I didn't see any need to buy
it, but that seems to be a very good price. Try your local
college and enroll in a class.

these do not have use
