Word document in a replicated DFS Share

I have a DFS replicated share and want to place word documents into it. The two shares are at 2 sites. Is there a way similiar to Excel (share workbook) that you can protect the documents in case 2 people have the document open. Excel always asks to open read only.

Any thoughts?

document open. Excel always asks to open read only.Word should do the same; it's not possible for two people to
simultaneously open and edit the same document. If you're seeing somethin
different, try asking in the word.setup.networking newsgroup. Be sure to
specify the versions of Word and Windows involved.
