We need to count words in PPT and the same words in Word. But we get
different results. Words joined by a hyphen, a dot or a slash are counted
differently in each program. Two words in Word, one word in PowerPoint.

Can anyone throw any light on why this happens?

Hi Martin
I assume you're using Word XP because Word 2000 doesn't treat hyphenated
words as two here.
Not a clue why that happens as I haven't installed Word XP but maybe there's
a compatibility option in Tools>Options...?
Or one suggestion to get round it - save your PowerPoint as an outline and
count the words in Word.

Adam,

We want to check that we have got the same number of words in both
programs... And we want it to work across all versions of PPT and Word.

You'd think word counting was a pretty basic function, settled eons ago.
Apparently not.

Martin
