Hello,

first that I have this kind of problem.

I am trying to mail merge with a query.

I select the .mdb and automatically Word displays wich Query or Table I want
to use. But from this menu about half of the queries are... missing!

I have OfficeXP (10.2627.2625)

Do I need a Service Pack?

Thank you!

IIRC, Word won't show the Parametrised Queries as possible DataSource for
MailMerge.

I suppose that the solution is to create a Table with a Query?

Or I have a better option?

The Word will see the table..

Hi korgman,

This "helped" someone previously
to see all the queries, plus, if you do
choose to use a parameter query, it
gives workarounds if you get the error.

In the Microsoft Word Mail Merge Wizard dialog box, click Create a new document and
then link the data to it, and then click OK.
In the Confirm Data Source dialog box, click MS Access Database via DDE (*.mdb;*.mde)
in the Open data source list box, and then click OK.

Good luck,

Of course, to get "Confirm Data Source" dialog,
you will *first* need to check

Tools\Options\General tab\"Confirm conversion on open."

IIRC since I haven't used MailMerge for quite a while, it may be easier to
use unparametrized query and then (I think) use Word MailMerge to "filter"
the DataSource.

The alternative is to use code (in Access) to modify the SQL String of the
Query so that the Parameters are replaced with the explicit values then
automate Word and MailMerge.

Of course, you can use temp. Table but in this case, I suggest put the temp.
Table in a different database file (and link it to the existing database)
since deleting & recreating temp. Table will bloat your database and you
will need to Compact the database regularly.

Thank you all for helping..

I used the table creation approach. Too many data to filter for word, I
prefer less data and "larger" database.

I have a dirfferent problem (not so big) with Word, but there is a
postgroup for Word?

Thanks for helping.

I used the creation of table. I prefer less data and "bigger" database.

Now I have a different "problem" with Word, but there is a PostGroup for
Word?

There are lots of Word groups.

I see you're using Outlook Express to post. Use Ctrl-W to get a list of all
of the newsgroups associated with the server to which you're connected. Type
Word in the "Display Newsgroups which contain" box at the top, and take your
pick.

If you're connected to the Microsoft server directly (msnews.microsoft.com),
you should see at least 29 groups starting microsoft.public.word

I am connected directly to msnews.microsoft.com

Obviously I tried to examine the existing word groups :-) But I see only
localised groups like .tw .jp .it .il .de .ed .fr

e.t.c.

Anyway, thank you about your care.

I don't know what to suggest, then. As I said, when I look, there are 29
different groups starting microsoft.public.word:
