Word attachments encrypted

Some (not all) Word attachments I received via email are unreadable when
opened, as if encrypted. Using IE 6 and XP (including Office).

Thank you for any suggestions.
 
yes....
the lates IE and XP ...have these like this so you won't get the lates
viruses...
You can simply go to
tools
options
security
and unched the box 'block all attachments'
(all this in IE)
