I'd be interested to hear from people concerning using Word as the email
editor. Any drawbacks? Any advantages?

Anything more specific?

Advantages; full blown Word to create a mail! All options from Word and a
more advanced grammar and spell check sure comes in handy sometimes. You can
also easily use your Word templates to create a mail so you won't have to
create them manually in both Outlook and Word. AutoText is a great feature
to have available now to. Some of my Custumer Service users are using this
to insert standard texts blocks.

Disadvantages; you could be having way too much options available now to
create a simple mail. Of course it will need more system resources now as
well. You can now have issues with both Word as Outlook which can prevent
you from creating a message. We kinda screwed up in the normal.dot template
so people were somehow not able to print some messages on some printers. We
had it sorted right away but people who used Outlook never noticed the issue
of course.
