Hello,

I have downloaded a document with spelling errors
from google documents. However when I run the
spell checker on word 2007 it does not detect
the spelling errors. How can I get it to work?

Is there a way to empty the "spelling cache"
on microsoft word?

Is there a way to tell word 2007 to forget about:
a) all word accepted as spelled correctly in the
current document
b) all word accepted as spelled correctly at the
application level rather than at the
specific document level

Thank you for all your help,

John Goche

The most likely cause of this is the text that you copied has no language
assigned to it. SelectAll (Ctrl+A) and then click on Review Tab, Set
Language and choose your local language. Make sure that none of the check
boxes at the bottom of the dialog are checked.

Thank you for your response.

I did a cut and paste and also unchecked the
"Detect language automatically" box under
"Set Language" under the "Review" tab
and I was then able to properly run the
spell checker.

On the other hand if instead of cutting
and pasting from google documents at
docs.google.com I do a proper download
by right-clicking on the name of the document
and then selecting in the javascript menu:

"Export as" -> "Save as Word..."

then the when I open the downloaded document
in word the default language is mysteriously set
to Russian (Russia) which I find really strange
since I am in the UK and have purchased MS
Office Ultimate also in the UK with all the buttons
in English. But even after changing the language
to English (United Kingdom) the spell checker
pertaining to microsoft word 2007 simply
reports spell check complete, which is
wrong in view that the cut and paste
results in some words being detected
as mispellt. So what is going wrong here?
Anyone care to try doing the same thing
and confirm the problem?

Thank you for your help. So how can I clear
my cache history to do a proper English (UK)
text-spell after doing a proper google documents
download via the provided google documents
javascript menu appearing when you right-click
on the google document in google documents?

Thanks,

John Goce
