I need to submit a document in Word format. I use
Windows XP. How can I do that so it is accessible to
both programs?

What programs are you talking about???

You can save the document with a .rtf extension and it can be opened in
WordPad or save it in .txt and Notepad will open it up.

Hope this helps,

Sorry, but I'm afraid there's a very basic confusion in your
question. You're talking apples and oranges, and your question
makes no sense as you've written it.

Word is a word processing program. A document in Word format is
created by Word (or some compatible program), and can be read by
Word (or some compatible program).

Windows XP is an operating system. Word processing programs, such
as Word, run under an operating system, such as Windows XP,
Windows 98, Linux, etc.

No operating system, by itself, can read files in Word format, or
in the format of any word processing program. You have to run an
appropriate word processing program to read such files.

So it's meaningless to talk about making a file accessible to
both Word and Windows XP.
