Oh dear
![Frown :( :(](/styles/default/custom/smilies/frown.gif)
One wonders sometimes at the wisdom of support staff who
recommend such actions, presumably from the end of a telephone line. If the
recovery discs did not have the Office programs on them, and you don't have
an alternative OEM disc containing them, they are sadly gone.
Your options are:
1. To go cap in hand to the supplier of the PC and obtain a copy of the
disc, and install it using the original security key code.
2. to obtain a copy of 97 from a black market source and to install it using
the key supplied with PC (You do have the key supplied with the PC?).
3. To buy a more recent version of Word, the Works suite being probably the
cheapest way to obtain it.
I hope you have expressed your displeasure to whoever recommended this
course of action?
