Word 97 not working with IE

When opening a word document using a link in Internet
Explorer, the document does not open as a mini word
program in IE. It just displays the icon usually used
when a picture is loading.

Is there an add-in feature IE I'm missing?
I've re-installed MS Office 97, but that didn't fix the
problem.
 
Have you downloaded SR 2 for Office 97? So what happens for you is that
when you left click on a document with the extension of .doc (Word Document)
the document does not open in Microsoft Word?
