WINDOWS 95 WAS INSTALLED ON MY PREVIOUS COMPUTER. I
GENERATED A NUMBER OF DOCUMENTS USING WORD 6.0.

IN JULY 2002, I PURCHASED AN HP PAVILION WITH THE WINDOWS
XP OPERATING SYSTEM INSTALLED. I HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF
DIFFICULTY IN TRYING TO OPEN MY OLD DOCUMENTS AND EMAILS
WITH THE .DOC EXTENSION.

I HAD BACKED UP MY OLD PROGRAMS, HOWEVER, WHEN I TRY TO
DOWNLOAD THE WORD 6.0 PROGRAM TO MY NEW COMPUTER, I GET A
MESSAGE THAT SOME FILES ARE MISSING. IT STATES I SHOULD
USE MY PREVIOUS INSTALLATION CD, WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE.I
AM, THEREFORE UNABLE TO INSTALL WORD 6.O INTO MY XP
OPERATING SYSTEM.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO PROCEDE?

THANKS,
JVT

First, please turn off your caps lock, it is considered rude and shouting
and it's also difficult to read an entire message that was done in all caps.

Second, I'm not even sure if Word 6.0 is compatible with XP. Nonetheless,
because Word was bundled with your old setup, it is an OEM version and not
transferable to the new computer. You will need to purchase a new version
of Word. (Not sure what you meant by download but the above assumes you
were either trying to install it or somehow copy it from the old computer to
the new one. If copying that won't work either, it must be installed)
