Hi, I've recently upgraded to 2007 and notice that the button ("X") that used
to close the current window (not the whole Word program) seems to be gone.
Is there some setting I can use to get it back? Thanks.

I put the "close button" in my quick access toolbar. Not sure why the "x"
was taken away - it is still in Excel.

Thanks - I have done the same thing but find it really annoying not to have
the "X" - all the other programs have it. I open and close a zillion docs a
day that I have to open through a 3rd party software program. I don't want to
close Word, just the open document. Frustrating.

Type Ctrl-W.

I agree - very frustrating.

I had this issue too, it is most annoying when opening new docs too. It is
easily fixed though.

From Word Options > Advanced > Display, uncheck the 'show all windows in the
taskbar'. All documents will then have the 'x' close icon and the min/max
icons..

Hope this helps
