I have a document that has web site addresses within it and only some of the
addresses have been turned into hyperlinks. I would like to know how to
automaticly have these become hyperlinks. What I don't understand is why only
a few of the addresses have been made hyperinks? I have been scannning many
pages of addresses and I in using OCR and format everything nice and neat and
when I save the file this is what I get. What should I be looking for to
correct this matter. Thank you for your time and help.

The conversion of addresses into hyperlinks is a function of the AutoFormat
feature. There are two separate parts to the feature, "AutoFormat As You Type"
which takes effect while you're typing but doesn't do anything with text that
you paste or send to Word from OCR. The other one, just "AutoFormat", you can
run at any time, but it doesn't run automatically.

First you need to set up the AutoFormat options. Go to Office button > Word
Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options. Click the AutoFormat tab (not the
AutoFormat As You Type tab). Clear all the options except "Internet and network
paths with hyperlinks".

Next you need to go to Office button > Word Options > Customize. Choose the All
Commands category, locate the AutoFormat Now command, and add it to the Quick
Access Toolbar.

When you need to convert addresses to hyperlinks, just click the AutoFormat Now
button.

Hi Jay, first thank you for your help secondly am I suppose to uncheck all!
of the boxes under all of the headings such as Apply, Replace, Preserve and
Always AutoFormat. Or just the block it is referenced to? Thanks again!

Also I attempted to put the autoformat on the tool bar but was unable to
locat it in the location you mentioned. I plan on looking at the help option
ans see if there is anything in there regarding autoformat and see what I can
come up with. Thanks again.

Hi Jay I found the AutoFormat now command I needed to choose from all
commands and not what was previously selected (popular commands).

I don't like to say "I told you so" <g> but I did say "Choose the All Commands
category"...

To answer your question in another post, it's a good idea to uncheck _every_ box
in the AutoFormat options dialog except the one for hyperlinks, unless you're
very sure that you also want one or more of the others to be applied each time
you click the AutoFormat Now button. I prefer to keep it simple, and apply only
one kind of autoformatting at a time. If there's another thing to apply, such as
heading styles, you can change the options and click the button again.
