Before I went from old computer to new computer (new
computer running Windows Profession 2000 and Word 2003) I
copied the NORMAL.DOT file from the old computer (running
Windows 98 and Word ??). Now, where do I put this file on
the new computer? I can't find a normal.dot file on the
new computer using the "Find" feature or even by looking
manually. I can open Word, double click on the normal dot
backup file that I made and all the autotext entries are
there, but only for that one document, then I have to
reloade it again. How do I store it in the template folder
(?) or the global folder (?) or are they nonexistant now?
I have quit a bit of text in there and don't want to have
to recreate it all if possible.

And Normal.dot in Word 2002 and above is not created until you have
customized something in Word.

Try this..

Open a new blank document in Word.
On the File menu, click Save As.
In the Save as Type box (at the bottom of the new window),
select Document Template (*.dot).
By default, the Save in box (at the top) will default to
where your Templates are stored.
If you click the small, black arrow beside the Save in
box, you can see where that template folder is located,
and then you can save any of your old templates to that
folder.
