Hi All,

Is there no way with Word 2007 to get back the Word 2003 AutoText pop-up alert? The loss is too great to continue with Word 2007
for making Electronic Medical Records. Is there a decent work around? After 7 monnths of struggling, I am ready to throw in the
towel and go back to Word 2003.

Cheers,

Gil

No, AutoComplete is not supported for AutoText (building blocks) in Word
2007, but I believe the feature will be back in Word 2010. In the meantime,
you can use AutoCorrect entries instead.

Hi Stefan,

I did not know that AutoCorrect could show a pop-up alert (preview) in Word 2003 nor 2007. How do you set it to do so? I do know
the AutoTexts are still there in the form of "building blocks." But if you have thousands of them, always remembering the name
right without an alert can be difficult. And . what was Microsoft thinking when they got rid of alerting users to available
AutoTexts?

AutoCorrect doesn't display a ScreenTip, but you can use an AutoCorrect
entry to quickly insert an item by typing a trigger (letters/text that you
choose). For example, you can set up "mytable" to insert an actual table.

Hi Stefan,

Yes I'm familiar with AutoCorrect.

I have AutoText shortcuts for thousands of medicine
prescriptions and medical words that I enter daily into
medical records. I've tried to be consistent in naming,
such as "amo242" for "amoxil 250 tid #42". And "amo530"
for "amoxil 500 tid #30". Occasionally there are
variations. Having the ScreenTip was a big help and FAST.

I look forward to the next version. Hopefully, it will have
it back.

Thanks, Gil

I do see the difficulty!

If you remember the names of the AutoTexts (may be a big "if" with many
entries), note that Word 2007 does support *inserting* an entry by typing
(the first few letters of) its name and pressing F3.

Yah. I'm going to see if I can get my workplace to put
Word2003 back in at least for me.
I did try making a macro that when the autotext entry button
F3 does not find a specific autotext, it would look it up in
a file I made having nearly all my autotexts. But it's
still not as good as the autotext popup alert from 2003.
Cheers,
Gil
