Hello:

Trying to find out why I get the message "The Target
cannot handle this type of document" in a pop-up window
when I copy files from hard drive to disc using Word
2002. The files actually do copy, but I always get the
same message (a message you would think implies the files
are not copying correctly). What does this message mean,
and since the files are copying can I get Word to stop
popping up this window every time I copy to disc (or
other media, such as flash memory sticks).

Thanks, Doug

Hi Doug,

Well, since no one else has replied, I'll give you my
opinion. Which you probably won't really like, but...

I've never seen the message you're getting, and I can't tell
you how to get rid of it. Word is not the best tool for file
management. The dialog box does allow typical actions such
as "delete" and "copy", but it's not really recommended to
use it for this. That's what the Windows Explorer is for :-)
You certainly should never try copying OPENED files (you
don't mention that, specifically, so it's not certain if you
are) - that's just asking for file corruption...
