Word 2002 has disappeared

Hello! I somehow managed to remove word from my computer when I was in
the "add/remove" panel. I contacted Gateway and together we installed,
and reinstalled Word. We turned the computer off, we restarted the
computer, we worked in safe mode. Nothing. On the "add/remove" panel
Word 2002 shows that it is there and installed BUT I cannot find it, or
open it up. I can access all my documents but I can only open them in
Word Pad or something like that. No Word. I contacted Microsoft which
was a nightmare...a miserable experience and made wish I never had a
computer to begin with but I digress...

Can anyone out there help me? I have a Gateway Lap top purchased 2003
(and most everything on the computer has never worked right except for
Word), and I am running XP Home...

Search for winword.exe. If it doesn't exist, then Word isn't installed.

If it does exist, right-click it and create a shortcut. Put that shortcut on
the desktop or somewhere useful for you. You'll also need to create file
associations for .doc files, and google will take you to simple instrux for
that.
