I have Vista Home Basic SP1. Recently I find my computer won't stay asleep.
It powers back up after less than one minute. It may be one of my programs
running in the background is a little too aggressive. If so, how do I find
out what's waking up my processor?

Any thoughts?

In my experience the main reasons why the computer wakes up are network
access and mouse movement. If you open the Device Manager and go to the
network adapter properties there is a power management tab. There you have
the option to uncheck the box "allow this device to wake the computer". The
same is true for the mouse. Hope this helps.

I tried what you suggested with the network adapter properties and it seems
to work perfectly. Thank you so much

My thanks to Victek! Following a lot of searching and frustration, here it
was - an easy fix!!
I have a cable connection and I'd wondered if that could be contributing to
my computer's inability to stay asleep. Apparently it was; I followed your
directions and the problem's gone!!
Thanks!
