Won't Shutdown

My Dell 4500 will not completely shutdown. When it gets
to the screen "Windows is shutting down" it just stays
there someone left it on over night and there it was. I
have all updates installed. Whoops, I'm running XP PRO.

I think that's caused by windows not being able to shut down a driver eg
video, soundcard Make sure all your device drivers are the latest and XP
compatible.
 
I have began having this same problem....could it be some kind of virus or
program that loaded in the background....ugh. Please let me know if you
find a solution as I have tried everything I can think of. I am current on
all my driver and MS updates and patches. Thanks
