Hello all,

My history setting is for 30 days but it does not save the sites I'm
visiting. I got XPHome, Zone Alarm, Mcafee VS, Spybot and SpywareBlaster if
these will help solving the problem.

Thanks in advance.

P,

McAfee Active X can mess up history and it's known to do this. Disable the
Active X function. If still no joy, try to create a new History folder as
yours may be corrupted. There is also an aspect of "logging on as an
administrator" and performing some detail with XP but I have forgotten what
that is. Also another thing about user names that have various "symbols (#@%
and things like that in it) but I don't think that applies to XP.

Sorry, I don't know more on XP, but I use W98se myself.

For XP -Mvps.org
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

create a new history folder -Sandi Hardmeiers Site (W98)
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers4.htm#history

Not for XP but about the user name with certain symbols contained in it.

Articles about logging on as administrator (This URL will wrap big time)
There is an = that might not be included in this URL. Simply add it at the
end.

Hello Lucky Strike,

How do I create a new History folder and delete the old one which maybe
corrupted? Which feature of IE6 will be impaired if I disable Active X?

Thanks again.

phelp,
Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[Win98]
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm#Win98

Note: McAfee AV with ActiveX controls enabled is known to cause History
problems.
Cannot View Internet Explorer 6 History By Date (XP)

Hi Phelp,

When you "delete" the old one by the method indicated in the links I
provided you, a new one is automatically created at the first opening of the
browser. It will be all fresh, new, and "untarnished".

No feature of IE6 will be impaired. The Active X that I am referring to is a
separate function of McAfee that is unnecessary, as one may disable Active X
within windows itself using the Control panel>internet options>security
tab>internet zone>active X settings. So you will not have directly affected
anything in IE unless you disable it *within* internet options.

Also, I see that Mike Burgess has also come to your aid, and has provided
the extra MSKB link explaining an aspect of how the History folder can be
"disturbed" by the McAfee Active X feature. He has also provided you with
the same link I sent you.

Just be aware that the MSKB is behaving kinda twitchy right now; probably
the server is overloaded or something. Generally, I save any help page that
I get from the NG's in special folders so I don't need to deal with
searching all over again in the event I suffer the same problem in the
future. You might be wish to do the same. Also then You wont suffer this
problem of waiting for the page to load. Could take all night. <G>

HTH - and you are welcome too.

Thank you guys for your invaluable help and concern. God bless y'all.
