wont play video clip

media player 10 , willdownload video clip,but on playback you bet a "flash
"of the picture then blank but adoi is playing ok .any ideas people?????
im only moderately competant so any explanations please keep simple.

Assuming the downloaded multimedia file is in good shape and a type that
Media Player can use, "not playing" is usually due to not having the right
codec. The file was created using a codec to pack the multimedia info into
it. The same or a compatible codec is needed to access the multimedia info.

Can try File> Properties from Media Player. The properties sheets for the
file will usually list the codec(s) used to create the file. There is also
an "obtain codec" button in Media Player that sometimes leads you to a page
where you can download and then install the needed codec. Some codecs are
free. Some must be purchased. If unable to track down what codec is needed,
contact the originator of the file for that information.
