Won't let other programs install

After installing AntiSpyware Beta 1 I can no longer
install other programs while it is running. I have to
manually shutdown the entire program and then my other
installations will run. Otherwise, I double click a
setup file and nothing happens.

Not strange, as this always a case with Antivirus utilities too, you don't
have shutdown the entire program though. Just right click on Microsoft
AntiSpyware icon in the system tray > select "Security Agent Status
(Enabled) and click "Disable Realtime Protection". Install your particular
application and re-enable "Realtime Protection".

I've seen other reports of this issue. This isn't the norm--I haven't seen
it on any of about 3 dozen machines I work with.

One thing that has the potential to resolve some oddities about a particular
install is doing an update--control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft
Antispyware, change, update.

In addition, please check that you are on the current build--see Help,
about, and look for .501 or .509. .509 is current.

If you are on the older build, download the new one from:

http://www.microsoft.com/spyware/software

(this is necessary--it doesn't come in via the update facility.)
