I can't get my Dell 8300 (w/XP home ed.+ SP2, cable modem
w/firewall turned on) to hibernate (either manually or
automatically). When I shut down manually or restart I
get a message in a windows box of "shit happens while
copying to". It has a different header file name for each
box(2 boxes per start-up) named
C:\windows\assembly/mfcdns.exe or C:\windows update
files/db.exe, etc. I did a search and found 2 of the
files basas.exe & Wupdate.exe on the C drive. I found
that they were created on Labor Day at 6am. I wasn't
using the computer at that time. Should I delete these
files? I also get a small windows box that says OK. Any
ideas of solution. If I go back to a restore point will I
lose my email that I've recv'd after that
point? If so is there a way to save that mail? All help
appreciated.

Sorry but Wupdate.exe appears to be the Spybot worm(according to a quick
google search) and mfcdns.exe is some type of malware.

I forgot to mention that if you ever do a restore point all of your e/mails
will remain.system restore does not effect these. However if you have the
Spybot worm it won't help you need to clean it out do an online scan at the
link in my other post.Good Luck
