My father-in-law was messing with one of our Vista computers while we were
out of town. Our router had a firmware update and crashed and he started
messing with the Vista computer and somehow got it into a state that it will:
1) No see the name of the router and only says "Unidentified network"
2) Will not get an IP address, only a local IP address i.e. 169.xxx.xxx.xxx
3) can't see out to the internet only local computers.
When I got home I saw that he had tried to get the computer on the network
by going through the wizard to setup a PPoE, which I am not on.
I have tried uninstalling the network adapter, but somehow believe that him
going through the wizard has caused something to be stored in Vista that is
preventing that machine from getting out to the internet or getting an IP
address.
How can I disable / remove the effects of him going through that wizard and
getting that computer back to its normal state.
Thx
