Won't even boot up!

I installed XP home edition on my Dell Dimension. After loading my sound card files, the system prompted a restart, on shutting down an error screen appeared that said "sync out of range" and the computer shut down. Now the computer will not even boot up, it does not read the floppy or cd, comes up only to the dell logo in the upper right corner and sits there. The off button will not shut it off, I have to hit the restart to shut it down!

I think "sync out of range" refers to the monitor losing the video signal.

Can you remove the sound or disable it and see if that helps. Are you able
to get into the bios.

I cannot get into the bios, does not boot that far, but I will try removing the video card and getting back to you. Thanks for the idea
