When I close Internet Explorer, it remains in memory as a
process. When I restart it again it opens a new process
(as many as 10 times) useing up memory.
I have windows XP pro, with a AMD and 1 gb memory.

AMAZING! The only reason I entered this newsgroup was to
find out why I have an instance of Internet Explorer (6)
popping up as a process running in the background of my
Windows XP! I hope someone knows what causes this because
the process seems to actually act as a "gate", enabling
popups to work around my Google ads blocker.
In my Windows XP, I can end the process from the Task
Manager, wait five minutes, and another process of
Internet Explorer mysteriously opens itself. Of course,
another few seconds of that hanging around in the
background and my screen is painted solid with lewd pop-

toolbar preferences are reverted to a different set of
annoying settings. My saved settings are disregarded. For
example, the toolbars include a view of the "Links"
option and the address bar and my Google toolbar are
shifted to a different position.
Have you noticed any such behavior?
