I have a Sony digital 8mm. I have tried using the front and rear inputs on my
computer and can capture video with no problem. There is no sound during the
process at any time. I have checked all cables etc. Sound is coming from my
camera. The computer is new. I have also checked another computer of the same
model at the store and get the same problem. Tech service has no answer. HELP!

Sony DCR-TRV103 Digital 8 Handycam. What is a firewire connection? I am just
using the RCA outputs on the cam. into the RCA inputs on the computer and
setting the moviemaker software input device to line in front/line in back

I will purchase the correct cable tomorrow. What settings will I use in
Moviemaker for that input? Thank's for your help. I feel like I'm at least
going in the right direction.

Your computer needs a firewire port... if it doesn't have one, you need to
add it....

The cable you get comes in two types - 4 pin to 4 pin and 4 pin to 6 pin...
your camcorder uses a 4 pin port.... your computer could have either 4 or 6
pins...

The settings in Movie Maker would be to capture DV-AVI files... that's the
full digital video, the same file that's on the camcorder tape.
