Tried to connect the two home computers with cat-5, but
realize now I'd have to use my DLink switch or a x-over
cable by reading this newsgroup,,, thanks to all those
answering

but I think I'll still have a problem,, one of the
computers see's itself and it's shared folders in
WinExplorer, while the other will see the workgroup but
doesn't see itself or its shares?????

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP's). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?

Thanks Marina,,,

I was as work so couldn't test it. My problem was that my
second machine wouldn't see itself on Network Neighborhood
even when not connected to the LAN. The first machine
could see itself though no LAN was established, so I
thought problems would ensue. But when I got home and
hooked up the switch (to take care of the x-over cable)
machine2 could suddenly see itself (????) maybe the
particulary ethernet card needed a load on it or
something. So I didn't have to change a thing,, just put
in the switch and everything worked.
