Having a problem booting. I shut the computer down fir the first time in a few days to add a new mouse. When I turned it back on, I got a strange error message. I did not write it down, so I don't remember what it said. But it would not boot up. I did a recovery with the Win XP cd, now I don't get that message, it just doesn't boot. It displays the "Windows XP" booting screen for a few seconds, then reboots again. It'll do this over and over. I tried the recovery console, fixmbr, fixboot. But it still does this. I removed the hard drive and installed it as a slave in another machine and I can access all the files on it fine. It just won't boot. Any suggestions?

This happened to me before. It is most likely a virus. Scan your hard drive for a virus. If there is no detection then I'm not really sure what to do. I did scan my own and there was no virus. I formatted the hard drive and installed Windows again and it worked perfectly fine. Try scanning for a virus, format your hard drive, and reinstall Windows. You will have to reinstall every program again and it really sucks.
