My system does not boot up. Inserting the XP CD, I will
get as far as repair. It'll ask for administrators
password, I'll hit the tab key and enter and brings it to
C:\Windows. I'll type help and a bunch of information
comes up and I'll look at bootcfg which is what I think I
need to repair. I don't know! How do I get it to install
bootcfg? I don't know how to type the lingo for this or
if this is the next step. My system only brings up the
DOS mode and no windows. Thanks for any help.

I think you're getting into the Recovery Console and NOT the Repair
Installation screen. You want to ignore the F2 option for Recovery Console
and let the CD keep working. Eventually you will get to the EULA and will
have to hit F8 to continue. Then it will look for a copy of XP on your hard
drive.... and the Repair Installation will be one of the options offered.
