Hey yall,

I put this here as its not really a Vista Issue.

Am changing my mates motherboard.

Its to an Abit FP-IN9, 2nd hand, seems to work fine.

Trying to install Vista on HDD and it won't boot from DVD.

DVD drive is the sames as mine a Liteon DVD/CD Dual-layer Lightscribe.

Funny thing is when i insert a copy of XP on CD in it recognises and starts the install, but not a Vista DVD.

Any help please.

Okay,

After swapping SATA cables it now reads the DVD, however it gets as far as completing installation, which is the very last stage then tells me that it "needs additional software"

Am thinking its a driver issue but we're not doing RAID and all the SATA drivers on the the disk.

Stumped.

Am now at the point where it will completes 99% of an install then BSOD.

Have swapped CPU, Memory, HDD adn all BSOD.

It will install XP though?

Anyone at all?

Has the machine got a Floppy Drive..??? Copy the SATA Drivers onto a floppy, and install them that way...

EDIT: IS this a copy of Vista..? I was under the impression niether Vista nore XP contained Embedded SATA drivers..
