Windows XP Pro SP3
Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1593.0
Engine Version: 1.1.4903.0
Definition Version: 1.63.1021.
I use Vedit, a text/programming editor (http://www.vedit.com/). The
first time it starts up after each boot, it creates a little
cleanup/recovery script and adds an entry to the "Run Once" list, just
in case it leaves some debris around.
Each time this happens, Defender gives me a little popup telling me
what's happened, requiring me to prevent or allow it.
I'd really like to just have it always proceed without telling me about
it and forcing me to respond.
According to the help file, there should be an "Always Allow" selection
in the "Action" dropdown for an alert, but at least in this case all I
have is "Permit" and "Deny."
Documentation error, bug or something else?
