To find a program to remove hiss/white noise from a streamed audio file?

I have tried to use Nero's "remove hiss" function and also DataBeckers old CD
Writer program, but neither of them work. Maybe this is not possible, maybe some of
you out there have had more experience of this and could advice.

Thanks

Yes, it is possible - easy, usually - but you'll want to use a wave editor
such as Audacity rather than a burning program.

The basic procedure is for you to select a brief part of the file that is
*ONLY* hiss which the program can use as a removal template. By "brief" I
mean a fraction of a second; since it must contain *only* hiss, look at the
start/end of the file.

Hi,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately there was no isolated hiss. I did manage to find
an evealuation shareware program called Acoustica. Although not familiar with these
sort of editing programs, I did manage to tweak the moveable line with the
denoising section and get rid of it beautifully. Interesting that none of the
automatic programs did, (ones where you just put a tick in the box.) only this one.
where I could move the line about.
I have downloaded your info file anyway, as I am sure it will come in handy for
when I do have the time to put vinyl onto PC!
Thanks again
