Is there any way of making the windows defender icon stay on the system tray
even if it hasnt update4d in 14 days or hasnt scaned in a while? As in stay
there forever?

Hi,
if you using the latest version then:
if you start WD in Programs, go in WD Tools Options scroll down to the
Real Time protection options there you find "Choose when WD icon appears
in the notification area" then you can put a mark at Always.
If that option is not there, go to the WD site and download the latest
version!

Windows Defender Update Problem schreef:

Hi, i have the same problem without the update and with the update, the icon
is stil not in the system tray... When i hit ctrl-alt-del and i close
windefender and start it again then it works fine untill i restart...

The Windows Defender page says that the icon does not display in the tray --
that it is "by design."

I want to see that the WD is running, just as I could with the Beta 1.

I don't want to have to navigate a bunch of directories just to start up WD
to do a scan or check the status.

Also -- my version of WD does *not* have the Tools - Options -- Choose when
WD icon appears" -- feature that Tom Emmelot described (below). It is simply
not there.

Hope this helps somebody :-)

And I hope the make that icon available in the tray (at least as an option)

Hi,

if you read my reply good then you know that you must Update your
Version of WD at the WD site!
Version must be :
Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1347.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1372.0
Definition Version: 1.14.1436.4
