Starting a week ago, whenever I turn off my pc, using the
right method. I get a dialog box stating that WMS IDLE
won't respond and I have to kill it to get my PC to turn
off. How do I correct this problem?

That's Windows Messenger Service, do you have the latest Windows Messenger
installed on your system or do you even use it? If you don't use it, it can
be disabled. Open Windows Messenger from the Start Menu, go to Tools,
select options, go to the Preferences, remove the check from "run this
program when Windows starts" and click ok.
