wmp11 c++ error

Hi all , this morning my windows meda player started coming up with this error,
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary
Assertion Failed!
Program:...rogram Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
File:..\geiss.cpp
Line:509

Expression:hdc==NULL
I am using WXP Pro SP2, all updates current
I have reinstalled media player to no avail,
do you think doing a repair install of XP Pro will fix the problem or is
there another way to fix it?
