wmp won't open after new ms update

After running the new xp update yesterday, I find wmp
will not even attempt to open. I have an HP Pavillion
XT853 / Pentium 3, running xp pro.
If I needed to reload wmp, I would need step-by-step
instructions in order to save my files, etc., as I am a
novice.
Any help would be appreciated. Jeff
 
i found more then one of there updates just screws things
up, i would use system restore and/or delete update.
might get into trouble doing this, be carefull, maybe
someone else got a better idea.
