WMP 9 and MP3 Tags (again)

A few weeks ago I asked about how long it takes Windows
Media Player 9 to update the files themselves with the
MP3 tags found using 'Find Album Info', and was told that
it's very lazy, it'll happen over a while, and that WMP
needs to be open for it to work. Many many night's I've
closed all programs, opened up WMP, and left it running
all night, and it won't update a single MP3. It seems as
if I've tried everything. Is there any surefire way to
get Windows Media Player to update my MP3 tags?

Have you entered all the album information? make sure
that you are connected to the internet. maybe try playing
the files...mine works good but sometimes if i have
mispelled something or left out sum info it wont do
anything - or if the file is incomplete.

I guess you misunderstood the question, or I misworded
it, or something.

What I mean is, it finds the album information just fine,
and in WMP it displays it correctly and everything. But
_outside_ of WMP, many of the files themselves have not
been updated--so if I open some of them in another
program of send it to my MP3 player, the information in
the file's tags are the old ones.

Since I have been told that Windows Media Player updates
the files on a "whenever it feels like it" basis, and as
of late it has not been updating any files, my question
is if there is a surefire method to get WMP to update the
files with the information it already has in its database.

Open your WMP click the tools tab, select options and
select the Media Library Tab. Review the selected
criteria to make sure those options are what you want.

It is wholly impossible to make it write instantly, so that idea is right
out.
It should be able to edit the file, provided the file is a valid MP3 (or WMA
or ASF or WMV), and it'll write those within the span of minutes rather than
hours. If it's taking hours, it's not going to happen. Does it work if you
*don't* use Find Album Info but instead edit the tags yourself?
Is your system clock set right?

Well, if I edit it myself, and the album was not already
found online, it updates it; if I edit it and it has been
found, it doesn't, and if it has been found online and
doesn't have any previous ID3 tag, it doesn't.

Soooooo strange.....soooooo annoying.

Don't forget though--at one point it WAS updating
albums...it seems that the ones it found automatically
(as soon as it was added to the library) were updated,
but the ones I had to use find album (so I could select
the right album) it didn't.

Bug? Or something far more sinister?
