I have scoured the internet for a few hours now, browsing many forums and Googling all manner of combinations of words to try and find a solution to my seemingly rare problem. I hope someone here reads this, and can help.
What happens is this: I can successfully open WMM, create projects, and save projects. I CANNOT save the project to a movie file, and, when I try, I get the following message:
Unknown Exception. Caught in WindowSubclassed::WindowSubclassProc
This happens immediately upon clicking the "Save to my computer" link. Same with the File --> Save Movie File... method. This same error message also occurs when I try to click on Tools --> Options, or File --> Properties. I cannot view the properties of any of my objects in WMM because of the error message.
I've not used WMM before until yesterday, so I don't know if it worked "before" anything. Under Help --> About, it says:
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.091208-2036 : Service Pack 3)
Windows Movie Maker Version 2.1.4027.0
I've tried to uninstall WMM to reinstall it, but quickly realized I couldn't uninstall. So I downloaded it -- from Radpidshare -- and reinstalled it.
I am running Windows XP. Was using SP2, but thought perhaps I needed to "upgrade" to SP3 to fix the problem, so I installed that, and still get the same error.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the K-Lite codec pack, thinking perhaps it was a codec problem. It was not.
I very much thank whomever reads over this post, and doubly thank anyone that feels fit to respond to it. Hopefully someone can help, as I really want to save my "movie" in a video format!
