I tried recently using a mini DV recorder to capture direct to hard drive,
bypassing the mini dv tape all together. WMM help states that the file size
limit for NTSF is unlimited, based on space available. However, during
capture, it looks like it puts the capture into RAM and then writes when the
capture is stopped.
I've got 1GB RAM, so my capture hit ~990 MB and then stopped (errored out)
saying there was not enough memory to continue.
Any suggestions for work arounds? It's nice, because you can get more than
1 hour of continuous recording at decent quality. It's just not "limitless"
as it claims to be.
