ilana

hi all,

i am new to making videos (although quite competent on a pc) and have spent
countless hours trying to edit my home video clips into chapters and burn
dvds.

my video clips are generally just a few minutes each so i would be able to
put about 40 clips on a dvd. thus, i want chapters for each clip on the
dvd's menu for easy navigation. i think of my (yet to be created) dvd's as
'moving' photo albums.

after dozens upon dozens of hours working on my videos, i have encountered
so many problems at the finishing stages that my work to date is now unusable
and i am going to have to begin again by importing all my dv tapes.

my pc runs vista and i have windows movie maker 6 and roxio easy media
creator/my dvd 9. which program makes more sense for me to use? or, should
i buy another program (which is not a problem)?

i thought a site with so many experts would serve me well right now. thanks
for your advice and direction!

best,
ilana

Hi Ilana,

This is a WindowsXP newsgroup... the Vista one is at
microsoft.public.vista.music_pictures_video

I couldn't begin to suggest something without knowing which version of Vista
you're using, and a bit about which of the two apps you have problems with,
and the nature of the problems.

The Home Premium and Ultimate versions of Vista include Windows DVD Maker,
which you don't mention... which may mean you have a different version... in
which case the kind(s) of source files you're using might be part of the
issues.

I have tried Roxio and also WMM for Vista. The transitions and effects are
easier to include in WMM, and the disk making process is integrated to MyDVD
also. If I had not already purchased a version of Roxio I would not bother
under Vista.

Sandy.
