Have you installed any software or updates
since the last time MM functioned correctly?

exactly! Just like me: I've just installed WindowsMediaPlayer 7 and now
Movie Maker crashes every time I run it

How can I solve this problem??? Should I uninstall WMP 11???

Thanks a lot,

There have been some reports that
uninstalling IE7 could solve various
problems.

i am having the same problem. the only thing i upgraded was my media
player to 11. when i went into add/delete programs, movie maker is
not there. it seems to have been removed with the media player 11.
i cant find a fix anywhere on the net. i just sent for the sp2 cd
which will take 12 weeks to get here. i dont know this is a mess
that is not being addressed. i even tried to do a system restore to
an earlier date and that didn't fix the problem. if you find a fix,
please post it so we can all fix the problem. thx...good luck.

It's best if you begin a new thread
when you have a question.

What is the error you receive?

Did Movie Maker work before you
installed WMP11?

If you open IE and go to...Help / About...
what is the version number?

Have you installed the Winter 2003 FunPack?
"WinterWMM2Pack.msi"

Movie Maker 2.1 is not supposed to
be listed in Add-Remove Programs.

You can download SP2 from the
following site:

Download Windows XP SP2
http://tinyurl.com/6ubys

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

Just as an FYI for anyone who may be trying to troubleshoot this...

I installed both IE7 and WMP11 between the times that WMM worked (ie.
WMM worked before the install but not after). I completely forgot to
mention WMP11 because I ininstalled it within 30 minutes of using it.
So now, only IE7 is installed.

It may be an IE7 issue and/or a WMP11 issue.

I'll post more if/when I learn anything new.

Thanks for the update.

Did you try uninstalling either or both?
