WMM Capture Speed

Hi, Gurus,
I have a problem with the video capture from a DV Camera into WMM.
I have tried different video formats, and they all seem to react
similarly - When I start capture, the capture panel shows the captured
time elapsed, and this doesn't match up with the video time counter on
the video player itself, and frequently when the time should be ticking
over per second, it takes 3-4 seconds to tick over.
Once the capture is complete, I look at the file created and see that
it randomly changes from normal speed to 3-4 times speed and back
again. I have had a quick scan through previous messages, but I don't
think it's a video driver issue, as all other video applications are
fine. I have a feeling it could be the video capture mechanism within
WMM.
Any ideas?
Would be much appreciated - videos of the kids don't quite look as cute
at random speeds!!
Cheers,
Ed

Sorry it's been a while, Wojo, and thanks for you reply.
I am capturing via Firewire through a PCMCIA card Firewire port.
And I tend to have most stuff disabled during capture, as the laptop is
getting a bit long in the tooth!
Cheers,
Ed
